In Medieval Crack, the Foulles collective looks for queer holes in medieval history. Those that allow other narratives, identities and dances to emerge. In a bid to reappropriate time and history, the collective will be gleaning material for emancipation from the representations and relics of an era. For yes, the Middle Ages also had their happy hours of enlightenment and freedom. With the collaboration of historian Clovis Maillet, author of Les Genres fluides. From Joan of Arc to trans saints, the collective also questions the semantic shifts inherent in the mapping of our bodies. The whole thing is captured with a great deal of mischief in a fresco full of relief and gaiety. - Laurence Wagner, artistic director of the Belluard/Bollwerk
